What Big Eyes You Have

A close-up of a Great Horned Owl wrapped in a vanilla-beige towel and held by a rehabber with thick black gloves. The owl has distinct rictal bristles around her graphite-black beak, and bulbous eyes, lemon yellow in the brightly lit indoor setting. Her top eyelids are 90% open, but the slight droop gives the impression that she is tired or forlorn. Her plumage is barred across the chest, alternating dark-brown and white, with sporadic bursts of caramel.
