Let this Western-Screech Owl give you the energy to make it through the week!

The owl's appearance is a shock of ruffled feathers in dark brown and graphite with streaks of black, radiating from a pair of yellow eyes. It somewhat resembles a Jim Henson muppet. The wildlife rehabilitator holds it by its feet with one hand, and films with the other, clutching the owl's legs like one might hold a bouquet. A protective layer of towel separates the two.

The owl is unimpressed. It screeches three times, neck feathers bellowing with each cry of protest: The first a firm plea and the second a marked increase in volume and agitation. It nibbles furiously at the towel, whipping its head back and forth like a dog with a chew toy. Unable to shake its bonds however, the owl's third screech is a return to the former volume. Resignation.
