A Saw-whet Owl is contained inside a draw-string pouch, lime-green with yellow polka dots (the bag, not the owl). Only the owl’s head is visible; coffee and cream with yellow eyes.

We’re officially in owl season! The first two nights, we saw an impressive nine Northern saw-whet owls migrating through our research sites.
The owls start their research journey in special cloth bags to secure them before we start the data collection comfortably. You can see nothing more magical or frankly cute than a Northern saw-whet owl coming out of a bag.
All birds are handled with proper permits and training. Never handle wild birds without them.
