In sharp focus is an EASO (Eastern Screech Owl) with spectacularly fluffy rictal bristles i.e. whiskers above the beak, like a feathery moustache. His facial feathers are shades of light and dark grey—ash and charcoal—with a pair of grey-green eyes that match the muted sage green of the towel in which he is wrapped. He is facing the camera directly and held by the hands of a rehabilitator, separated by the green towel. Out of focus in the background top right is a display and electronics. The rest of the background is awash with more green, somewhere between pistachio and turquoise.

From the clinic name “BeWild Reptile Rescue”, it would seem this owl lacks the features of its typical reptilian guests, but he looks very welcome all the same.
