This yellow-eyed yellow-towelled beauty was posted on a page for a Croatian student radio station Radio Sova (Croatian for “Radio Owl”). Poor thing had a broken wing so they asked their listeners if anyone was heading to the nearest city to deliver to a vet surgery 2 hours away.
Thankfully, it appears the owl made it to Zagreb via express-delivery from a good-hearted patron.
By the looks of its features and Croatian location, I am assuming it is a Eurasian eagle-owl, if anyone can confirm?
The station’s page has been contacted to see how the surgery and recovery went, and if this stunning creature was released back in the wild. I haven’t heard anything so will assume it was successfully released… either into the great outdoors or the great beyond :’)
